14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2021 | Marketing & Communications Advisory Many thanks to all who participated in our Communications Poll in October. Your responses will greatly assist us going forward. As life is returning to normal, we will likely be seeing changes on a regular basis. We continue to do our best to bring you our Sun Lakes news in the way that works best for YOU. Some are comfortable with monthly news; some want to know what's happening as soon as it happens. We strive to provide both. We are gratified that many of you are taking advantage of watching our live Channel 97 broadcasts of the Budget, District Delegate and Master Board meetings. We will also be bringing you future Town Hall meetings live. Please remember that important news of the day can also be found 24/7 in the "crawl" on Channel 97. Many of you have asked where you can get the cool Sun Lakes bags that newcomers get at Welcome Home dinners. We are pleased to announce that you can now purchase them from both Pro Shops for only $15. See the picture of it and other Sun Lakes gifts you can obtain at right. Have a great November, Sun Lakers! Sun Lakes Committee Reports Library Advisory This picture at left depicts the gross excess of old and unacceptable books dropped off at our Main Clubhouse libraries. We only accept books published after 2011 and we do not accept any non-fiction books in those libraries. North Clubhouse accepts fiction, biographies and puzzles. South Clubhouse accepts fiction and self-help books. Please be informed, and notify your families and friends, that donations over five books must be checked in at the MCH reception desk. If too many unaccepted books continue to be donated, we will be forced to alternately close the libraries once a week in order to deal with the overflow. Again, books prior to 2012, religious, coffee table, technical, textbooks, foreign language, sports, travel and military books may be donated to: • Deseret Thrift Store, 1197 Calimesa Blvd, Calimesa (behind McDonald's) • Beaumont Public Library, 125 E 8th St, Beaumont (Saturdays 9:30 to 11:30) • Banning Public Library, 21 W Nicolet St, Banning • Cabazon Public Library, 50425 Carmen Ave, Cabazon • Calimesa Public Library, 974 Calimesa Blvd, Calimesa • Set Free Thrift Store, 160 W Ramsey St, Banning • Angel View Thrift Store, 34544 Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa • Redlands Public Library, 1125 W Vine St, Redlands (call for appt 909-798- 7565) Things are moving right along now for the Recreation Advisory Committee. We have been busy planning and organizing events for the community. The Fall Craft Show is on Nov. 5 and 6. We are so pleased that we were able to offer the Craft Show this year. Instead of ice cream socials as we did in the summertime, we are going to offer fall desserts in October and November and a holiday treat in December. Don't forget the annual Veterans Walk on Nov. 13. There will be a continental breakfast directly after the walk in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We will have a speaker, and all the proceeds from this event benefit our Local VFW Post 33 to help our local Veterans with their needs, which can be many. The Ad Hoc Decorating Committee under the direction of the Recreation Advisory Committee, will soon be decorating for the upcoming holidays. Our Main Clubhouse will be looking festive very soon. Please let us all be kind to everyone who we are interacting with. Kindness and patience go a long, long way. ~ Patricia Elevi, Recreation Advisory Committee Chair, (951) 850-3900 Recreation Advisory BUCK A BAG BOOK SALE NOV. 5, 6!
