Someone told me recently that she was "aging with attitude." I
thought that phrase well describes our Dance Troupe members, male
and female. Though there can be some problems with knees and
backs, for the most part we are in good shape and ready to dance.
Our active lifestyles keep us feeling young and we want to continue to
enjoy the movement, the music, and the companionship of our dance
troupe. The friendships that have grown from the spirit of teamwork,
support and laughter are an unexpected delight in addition to all
the other benefits we enjoy from attending our dance classes and
practices.
Our men's group has not met since before the pandemic but will
begin to practice for the show again in January. Their one dance is
often the comical highlight of our performance, and it is easy to see
how much the guys enjoy strutting their stuff up on the stage.
Some of our newest members have joined the intermediate jazz
class to practice one of the dance numbers so they can participate
in our upcoming show. Our couples dance group has also started
practices and two of our newer couples will be performing ballroom
dances in the show. We are looking forward to sharing with you all
that we have learned.
The Dance Troupe welcomes new members whether you are new
to dance or have experience. We have classes in jazz, tap, Hawaiian,
and belly dancing. If you are interested in tap or jazz, please contact
Allison Stewart at als2art@gmail.com. If you are interested in
Hawaiian dancing, please contact Valerie Thompson at valgene2@
cox.net. If you are interested in belly dancing, please contact Sharon
Lair at (760) 822-2670.
