CLUBS & GROUPS | LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2021 | 25 For many of you old timers, you may remember that each spring, around late April to late May, I would take our show on the road. I would remove our troop items from my garage shipping center and pack my truck, both inside and to the roof of the camper shell. Then it was off on my 1,350 mile drive to my little, single wide mobile home, on the shore of Idaho's largest lake. My place on Lake Pend Oreille is about 65 miles from the Canadian border. When I arrived, not having a garage, I would place the troop supplies in three locations. I would line one of my inside living room walls with boxes of my smaller perishable items. Larger, more bulky items, such as chips, cup o noodles, etc. would go into my storage shed on the porch. Along my front porch, I would stack empty boxes, ready for magazines. Troops love magazines and I often send a few in most packages. I was then ready to call all of my contacts and make my once a month magazine pickups. I would make the rounds of 18-20 locations, such as barber shops, dentist and doctors offices. Many had been stockpiling them for my arrival in the spring. It was only then, that I would prepare my fishing boat, that was stored on site. The boat would be put into the water and into my boat slip in the spring and not taken out until around the first week of October, in the fall. From a young age, I have always loved fishing. If it was a nice day, I would be out on the lake fishing. If it was a bit windy, or inclement weather, I would be packing and mailing troop packages. After having medical issues, from a spine surgery that went bad, I have come to the realization that my days on the lake are at an end. I have already sold my boat, and just returned from Idaho, preparing my mobile home for sale, which has just sold also. Our troop package project will continue, uninterrupted. I could use a couple of guys, as occasional volunteers, that could move heavy boxes, sometimes over your head. Thank you for caring. ~ Jesse Donardt SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
