Our Halloween party was the first party we held in Abravanel Hall in 17 months. Outrageous costumes and great music by the five- piece band, Breez'n, made it a fun time. We have 10 parties planned for 2022: Sat., Feb 5; Fri., March 18; Fri., April 29; Thurs., May 5; Fri., June 17; Fri., July 15; Fri., Aug. 19; Fri., Sept. 23; Sun., Oct. 30; Sat., Nov. 19. Our parties are popular and usually sell out. Our venue is too small for all the Doo Wop Club members who wish to attend so we conduct a lottery for both the reserved seat list and the waiting list. See you on the dance floor! If you are not already a member and would like to learn how to get tickets for these parties, print out the membership form on our Doo Wop website, complete the information and drop it by the Clubhouse front desk. Include a check for $10 per person made out to The Doo Wop Club. Ballroom Dance Happy Holidays! Our Holiday Gala is on Dec. 10 in Abravanel Hall. It will begin at 6 pm with a Bobby's Hideaway family style dinner. At 7 pm we will dance to the live band, MusicStation, until 10 pm. Come join the fun! Then you can dance to a variety of ballroom music or just enjoy the music and socializing. Bring a friend and some Happy Hour nibbles and drinks. The Party is FREE! No charge for the mini lesson, no charge for the tunes, no charge for the FUN! Thank you for stepping up to lead! ~ Marv Todd & Ana Yoshida, Co-Presidents; Marvin Wheeler, Vice President; Lynn Wheeler, Treasurer; Ann Mauro, Secretary 14 | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2021 | Doo Wop and Disco Dance Club In October, our club voted for officers to take us into 2022. The new presidents are Marcia Ward and Phyllis Buvel. Vice-president is Sonja Itson and Ann Legasse will remain as treasurer. Martha Cannon remains as secretary and Jackie Stanislawski is now Sunshine. We all appreciate this group volunteering their time and energy to making sure our club continues to thrive. We especially want to thank Allison Stewart for her hard work as president for the last two years. She got us through the pandemic, fighting for us to return to class as soon as it was safe. One of the first items for our new Board will be deciding whether to offer a beginning ballet class. We need to know what kind of interest there is for this new class, which would start in January. The level of instruction will depend on the experience of the class members. It would be taught by Eugenia Keefer. After starting ballet at the age of seven, Ms. Keefer achieved success as a dancer. From 1979 to 2014, Ms. Keefer owned the New West Ballet School in San Marcos. She produced many student shows, including The Nutcracker. She retired in 2014 but is interested in teaching an adult class here in Ocean Hills. If you are interested in taking a ballet class, please contact Diane Hillman at drdianehillman@icloud.com. The Dance Troupe welcomes new members whether you are new to dance or have experience. We have classes in jazz, tap, Hawaiian, and belly dancing. If you are interested in tap or jazz, please contact Allison Stewart at als2art@gmail.com. If you are interested in Hawaiian dancing, please contact Valerie Thompson at valgene2@ cox.net. If you are interested in belly dancing, please contact Sharon Lair at (760) 822-2670. Ocean Hills Dance Troupe
