| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2021 | 15 Village Squares VILLAGE SQUARES HOLIDAY PARTY The Village Squares members are excited to be able to celebrate the season once again. We are meeting on Dec. 9 from 5:30 to 9 pm. Our tables will be festively decorated, and Bobby's Hideaway will serve us another one of his delicious holiday meals. The club is providing coffee and tea, and members can bring a beverage of their choice. The highlight of the evening will be that once again, after 18 months, we will be able to dance! We are all rusty, but our caller, Mike Haworth, has promised to start us off very easily. It will be so good to allemande and promenade once again. We have missed the friendship and camaraderie we have enjoyed in the past. We will be also welcoming our interim Board who have been planning the event. Officers are: Linda Drapeau and Steve Ward, Co-Presidents; Phyllis Buvel and Janet Lutman, Co-Vice Presidents; Ellen Kippel, Treasurer; and Linda Sterger and Valerie Thompson, Co-Secretaries. Come join the fun. Village Line Dancers What are these residents doing? No… they are not sleepwalking; they are line dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller. Our Club had a Halloween party where, among other things, party goers learned how to dance to the song Thriller. While moving like a zombie to music, you hardly recognize that you are getting a workout for the body and brain. In an article published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, "…older people who routinely partake in physical exercise can reverse the signs of aging in the brain, and dancing has the most profound effect." Men, women, resident zombies… anyone, come try line dancing. Check the OHCC weekly calendar for any changes, but December's scheduled classes are in Abravanel Hall except as noted: Feel free to participate in one or two classes before joining. Dues are $10 per person, per year. You can pick up a membership form at the information rack in the Clubhouse. If you join in December, your membership is good for the next year as well. Classes are all "drop-in" and $5 for each Beginner class; $7 for the 90-minute Improver and Intermediate classes. Exact change appreciated.
