Woodchucks
"And to all a good day…"
As we write this article to make Living magazine's deadline, the
Woodchucks are finishing our last-minute-tasks in preparation for
the OHCC Donation Drive-Thru & Walkabout Toy Drive.
We packed up the many toys created by our Woodchuck toy
builders, and the Woodchuck artists had completed the clever tole
paintings on the 60 cradles. The sewing club's cradle quilts always
add an imaginative touch, which along with the 350 beautifully
stitched stockings, added festive color to this holiday celebration.
Our joy comes from the efforts of those who signed up to help.
Our volunteer friends from the Woodchucks, Garden Club, Vets Club,
Sewing Club, and the Chorale… all became Santa's little helpers!
Most of all we want to thank our OHCC neighbors who recognized
this opportunity to "Serve those who so bravely serve us."
Finally, we dedicated this year's toy drive to two of our past Master
Toy Builders: Larry Bowers and Mitch McCarroll. The remaining
few of their creations were included in this year's celebration. One
example was the folk-art puzzle of the Manger scene. As we went
through their unfinished projects, we found these nine puzzles. With
a little work by our elves, the puzzles were completed on time. Larry
and Mitch would have been pleased.
If you missed this joyful opportunity, you can drop your toys, gift
cards, or checks at the Clubhouse front desk, and we will load them
up on the Woodchuck sleigh.
From all the Woodchucks, have a blessed holiday, Christmas,
Hanukkah.
Thank you for helping us spread cheer to the kids at Camp
Pendleton.
