6 | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2021 | As a reminder, Sundays and holidays are reserved as "noise free" days. This means that gardeners, contractors, etc. will be notified by CPS officers that if a noise complaint is received by CPS they will receive a warning. If a second noise complaint is received for that same day, the vendor or service provider will be asked to leave the community and the resident will be cited for violation of rules and regulations. With the decrease in daylight hours due to the end of Daylight Savings, please be mindful of residents walking throughout the community especially on Leisure Village Way. Pedestrians are encouraged to wear either high visibility clothing or a safety vest to increase the likelihood you'll be seen by motorists before sunrise and after sunset. Additionally, golf carts and bicycles are not authorized to drive in the pedestrian lane at any time. If you are observed doing so you will receive a citation. Due to the ongoing issue of motorists driving in excess of the posted speed limit, the safety benefit of motorists having to slow down due to a golf cart would be welcome. Please remember to abide by posted speed limits and obey all traffic signs. Safety is the objective, not citations. As always if you have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to contact the Front Gate for assistance. Community Patrol Services Golf Course Renovation Report You may recall in the October article we showed the design of the lake and discussed the current scheduling of the construction. In the November article we discussed the costs of the project and the monumental effects the pandemic induced shortages have had on our costs. Those effects persist today on the electrical service and the lake construction, as well as our supply of sod. I can shed some perspective on the extent of these increases. I recently had a financial review of my investments which I assume we all do periodically. One of my mutual funds was in gold while another was in commodities, part of which was in copper. The commodities fund, with the copper, appreciated 3.5 times more than the gold fund. That shows the extent to which we have been affected by the runaway cost of commodities which we need for our golf course construction. Saturday November 6th the Audiovisual Committee shot a video of our golf course construction to-date. Our expert videographers were Rob Schoonover and Jim Kaminsky. Bob Fisher and I accompanied them and took the part of Cecil B. DeMille. What that really means is that we drove the golf cart and made comments. Next Greg Coffey has located a licensed drone pilot for us to get some overhead shots of the course construction to edit into this video. I have some still shots of the greens in early stages of construction that I showed in the May 10th Town Hall meeting which will also be added. Anthony Scalise, our expert Technical Adviser to the Audiovisual Committee, is editing all of these videos into one video, to which we will add a soundtrack. The soundtrack will briefly describe the changes shown in the video. That completed video will then be posted to our OHCC website under the tab Golf Course Renovation Project. That will show most of the changes that are being made to our golf course now. It is our intention to shoot other videos which will show the changes made since this one was made in November. We intend do a final one when we have finished the construction and the grass is grown in completely. This video should be posted to our website by the time you receive this edition of OHCC Living. Our current scheduling shows that grassing is now being done on the front 9 during the week of Nov. 15. The irrigation on the front 9 is being completed the same week. Irrigation on the back 9 includes laying the rest of the mainlines, then the heads will be installed. The greens have sand and the bunkers are shaped and will have sand towards the end. The lake design is being finalized now. After the shop drawings are completed and approved they will be submitted to the City of Oceanside. Candyl Golf still projects completion of the lake by March 10, 2022. We look forward to your being able to see what is going on by viewing the video on our website in December.
