Genealogy
Interest Group
The Genealogy Interest Group is a group of
individuals who want to find out about their
heritage, who their ancestors were, where they lived
and what they did. The group provides tools to do
your research and help in getting started. For the
experienced, we may offer suggestions to break
through a stumbling block to another generation.
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month
from 10 am to noon with a short presentation and a
help session answering questions the attendees have.
We offer a second two-hour period of individual
help each month; date and time to be announced
on the TAG calendar. We offer the World Explorer
version of Ancestry.com, a search engine for finding
your ancestors free of charge in the computer lab.
(Individual subscription about $100 a month.) We
offer the Family Tree Maker program on several of
the computers in the lab to catalog your family tree
data and present your tree data.
The coordinators are Dorothy Miller and Don
Wirth. Help sessions will add Peggy Singh. Contact
us at ohccgen@gmail.com.
TAG, the OHCC Technical Advisory Group, is in serious need of volunteers
to provide technical support to folks in the community with various levels of
technical challenges.
We need residents with proficient skills, not necessarily professionals, with
Windows, Apple, and Android and also with devices like voice assistants, home
automation, wearables as well as computers, tablets and phones.
New technologies are forcing people into situations they are not familiar or
comfortable with such as Telemedicine, digital contracts and VoIP telephones…
If you have a little time to help a neighbor join us. Some people just need
some guidance learning the basics of their new smartphone because it is a little
different than their old one.
People will be getting a lot of new tech this holiday season and will be needing
a hand.
Please join us by going to https://ohcctag.wixsite.com/ohcctag/join-us or email
ohcc.tag@gmail.com with any questions and/or comments.
