| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2022 | 33 Cloth. By the time you read this the Billiard Room's six, 9-foot pool tables should have been professionally leveled and new cloth installed. The cloth is by Simonis, who have been making billiard cloth at their factory in Belgium for over 300 years! That cloth is worsted wool, much the same as found in fine men's suits. Membership Dues. You may join the Billiards Club and enjoy Billiards Club activities on these fine tables for only $7 per year. Leave your check (with "2022 Dues" and your email address noted) at the front desk or give it to any board member. Why are the dues so low? We don't have dinners or parties; we just play pool. We have some small expenses, but most of our dues are returned in the form of the prize money for our nine tournaments. The tournaments have no entry fees, and the usual prizes are $50 - $25 - $10 - $5 for the first four places. Training. In normal times we have one game class and one technique class per month. With our current health crisis, however, it doesn't make sense to pack two or three dozen people around a single table. So, until the situation improves, we offer our members two alternatives. One alternative is to view our standard beginning lessons online. Go to the OHCC website, pick Social Clubs – Billiards Club – Lessons – Charlie's YouTube Videos 2-7. (NOTE: Video #1 is not recorded because it deals with terminology and that is better seen in the printed pdf "Lesson #1".). The other alternative is a private one- hour lesson from one of our top players. You may choose to have them give you an overall evaluation or to help you with something you want to work on. There is no set schedule. Just call one of them and set up a time. Gary Pelcher at (760) 295-5444, Cal Roe at (760) 295-0151, Kathy Thornton at (760) 295-5662, Charlie Payne at (760) 295-0670, Janice Pelcher at (760) 295- 5444, John Mitchell at (760) 295-1971. Come, join the happy folks who patronize our Billiard Room! Billiards
