8 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2022 | Facilities Committee The Facility Committee folks hope that you survived the holiday season and you are looking forward to another new year. In previous articles, they listed the many projects that were recommended to be repaired or purchased to our Board for consideration and we are proud of the work that so many put in to help make those changes. Each Committee member is given a month to inspect and reports on a specific list that they are given to inspect. Once items have been identified it is reported to the Committee where they can spend many hours finding a solution. Sometimes it's a simple repair and sometimes we need to replace or update to something newer. It is always decided with how much is it going to cost and finding the best way to get the job done. One project that we are proud to be part of is the new Bocce and Shuffleboard covers. We want to encourage our residents to walk back to the sport court area and look. You might get anxious to join those clubs when the sign up begins early this year. We are always open for suggestions from our residents and you can do it very easily by filling out a resident communication form. Be patient, sometimes it takes time to get through the proper channels and trying to find the best solution can take several meetings before we have decided what to do. We also thank the many residents who have had suggestions and proposed some very good ideas. On behalf of the Landscape Committee, a very Happy New Year and we wish you the best for 2022. Here's a recap for 2021 and a look at 2022. The Landscape Committee is charged with reviewing proposals generated by Artistic Maintenance. These proposals are generated at the request of our Management Services, from residents, the Landscape Committee members, and Artistic Maintenance, when they identify a need, such as replacing broken irrigation lines, tree removal, etc, that is outside of their contract for specified services. In 2021, the Committee reviewed over 240 proposals, with several proposals needing multiple reviews. We have seen an increase in the number of proposals, due in part to the age of our community's landscaping, and the need to upgrade equipment, software, etc. Because of this increase, we have not had the time in our once-a- month meeting to discuss in more detail, the challenges facing our community, (water restrictions, relandscaping older areas, etc). Beginning 2022, we will be meeting twice a month, the first Wednesday devoted to reviewing proposals, and on the third Wednesday, discussing landscaping issues more in depth. We hope meeting twice a month ensures our function of reviewing proposals and future planning needs for our community. This past year, a major project was cutting back and removing plants/trees in the rear planter areas of the Legend homes. The purpose was to re-align the landscaping with the original design of drought tolerant, slow growing plant materials. Additionally, plants were cut back or removed to gain access to sewer cleanouts, electrical boxes and air conditioning units. As of this writing, there were about 40 homes still needing some cut back as well as plant replacement. In 2022, with our Board of Directors in the lead, we are looking to replace the spray irrigation with a drip system in the rear planters. We thank the residents in the Legends for their feedback and patience with this project. Thank you to one of our residents, who took the time for photographing overspray on Four Seasons Blvd. With these photographs we were able to alert Artistic to check out an irrigation problem. Residents, we thank you for alerting our management staff when you see a problem with the landscaping/irrigation in our community. Residents are welcome to attend our Committee meetings. Please check with The Lodge about any restrictions in attending the meeting in person. Landscape Committee
