14 | LIFE IN SOLERA | JANUARY 2022 |
On November 11, Beaumont held a Veterans Day parade that
ended at City Hall. It was packed with great small-town entries. Ron
Rader's patriotically decorated golf cart was one of the entries and
Ron was kind enough to have three Solera Veterans with him: Jesse
Donardt, Marty Mangan, and Richard Crowe. The Grand Marshal
was Solera resident, Paul St. Martin.
As it was Beaumont's inaugural Veterans Day parade, we were
fearful that there might have been more people in the parade than
watching, but we were very pleasantly surprised: flag-waving moms,
dads, grandparents, and children were very enthusiastic. We Vets felt
truly appreciated. Enjoy the parade photos of Solera Vets and the
throng lining the street. We've also added a little about our military
service. Vets are so aware of the passage of time since having served
so some "old" photos are included.
Many military Veterans live in Solera, a number of whom continue
in service. Notable among them are Lane Joel (Life in Solera
photography), Dennis Rice (HOA Board, computer services, flag
brigade), Wayne Otte (HOA finance committee, flag brigade), and
Dick Meinhold (Catch a Star Theatrical Players).
Finally, we should remember those who served abroad but did not
return home. One perspective on their tragedies: they did not have
the chance to grow old.
