12 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2022 | Marketing & Communications Advisory The Channel 97 and Good Day Sun Lakes team welcomes you to 2022 and reminds you that you can see Community Alerts, Updates and Restaurant Specials on the Channel 97 crawl, Good Day Sun Lakes Facebook page and SunLakesCC.Com. We carry important meetings LIVE, such as monthly Master Board, monthly District Delegate Assembly and Town Hall meetings and normally post them for replay within 24 hours. We have also been producing monthly Admin Updates with Chris Mitchell (General Manager) and Jason Ewals (Assistant General Manager), Coffee with the GM – where Chris answers questions from the community, periodic Staff Spotlights, Golf news and tips and regular Club and Group updates to help you publicize your events. You may send your questions for Chris and Jason or any other staff member to SLCCQuestionSs@gmail.com. They will be directed to the appropriate person for reply or answered in the next video segment. Golf Advisory The members of the GAC would like to thank the Master Board for the great working relationship we shared in 2021. Their fast action on addressing the erosion along the ravine on Executive Course hole #6 early in the year avoided what could have become a serious problem. In the fall, sand was also replenished in all the traps on the Executive Course. On the Championship Course, an extensive tree trimming program was undertaken to address many of the overgrown mature trees. The drainage project on hole #4 was completed to eliminate the problem with standing stagnant water. This involved the replacement of the blocked drainpipe that ran along the length of the fairway and finishing off the head walls with a stone veneer greatly improving the appearance of this hole. Coming up in 2022, we look forward to undertaking the renovation of the greenside sand traps on the Championship Course. Currently these traps are largely unplayable due to silt accumulation and compaction that has led to drainage problems. Plans are to use a sand trap liner to avoid compaction of the sand with the underlying soil and to maintain the integrity of the drainage system. Completion of this project will improve the condition of our traps to a level we can be truly proud of. The GAC looks forward to working with the Master Board over the next year to maintain our golf courses at a level that rivals those of the courses in the surrounding area. Sun Lakes Committee Reports Library Advisory Much thanks to Linda Stone, who took on the task of alphabetizing, sorting and straightening out the South Clubhouse library, and to Doug and Jolyn Deans whose valiant efforts have kept that clubhouse going these past months. To Doug Deans and Doug Swenson go our thanks for setting up the book sales, and to Peter Fernandez for disposing of books and puzzles after the sale, and moving books from one library to another. These are some of the most difficult tasks to keep up with so we are very appreciative. Library shelving openings are available for morning and afternoon shifts. Please contact Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540 or joybailey@ verizon.net to choose a library and shift compatible with your schedule. Written and in-person instructions are available. We have just purchased over 100 new and used Westerns and will buy more as they become available. Bingo Advisory Safety Advisory After our last meeting with several hearings, I realized that our main objective is to help residents solve problems. One of these might be residents with multiple vehicles and perhaps a truck which won't fit in the garage needs a solution. If our solutions are then ignored or delayed then this requires fines and or penalties which we as well as the homeowner don't like. Just a reminder during the holidays: if you parked at another resident's house past midnight, you could get a notice if you didn't have an overnight pass displayed on the dash. Please slow down and be safe. ~ Bill Bess, (951) 769-8022
