| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2022 | 49 Hello all you great Sun Lakes residents! I really hope the first month of 2022 was really good to you in all areas of your life. Let's all wish the following Sun Lakers and RVers a very Happy Birthday hopefully full of family, friends, food, and lots of very expensive gifts: Vernon Green, Ronnie James, Bonnie Derrick, Vernon James, Rod Kemp, Dave Hoeke, Anne Wood, Larry Estermyer, Jeanne Moyer, Dennis Sims, and Lillie Lawaetz. I have always wondered why this month has only 28 days. According to the internet, February has 28 days because to the Romans, the month was an afterthought. In the 8th century BCE, they used the Calendar of Romulus, a 10-month calendar that kicked the year off in March (with the spring equinox) and ended in December. January and February didn't even exist. King Numa Pompilius thought that was stupid. In 713 BCE, he lined the calendar up with the year's 12 lunar cycles—a span of about 355 days—and introduced January and February. The months were added to the end of the calendar, making February the last month of the year. From here Roman Emperor Caesar, Pope Gregory XIII, the Catholic Church, and the Protestants all had a hand in getting the calendar to what we use today. Now I fully realize Xmas has long come and gone but I promised I would publish some pictures of our RV Xmas party. Here they are. It was a great party. Everyone had a fun time. Wouldn't it be great if each of us would do our best to share some of this love in some form to all who we encounter in our travels in this year of 2022?.
