| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2022 | 5 By Jerry Monahan, Board President, and Laurie Larson, Chair of Communications Board in Four Seasons Beaumont - edited and reprinted with permission in cooperation with Randy Robbins, Sun Lakes resident The Pass Action Group (PAG) has filed an appeal to the City of Banning to reverse their decision to go ahead with the 620,000 square-foot warehouse and retail project across from Sun Lakes. The appeal hearing was scheduled for Jan. 31. Please check the latest media platforms for the outcome. The primary basis of the appeal is that the project may have changed after the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was written. Therefore, the belief is that an updated EIR, which includes a traffic analysis, must be redone. The PAG is meeting on a weekly basis to discuss strategy to get the citizens of Banning in other areas of the city to join with the PAG to implore the Banning City Council to stop warehouses in residential areas. Additionally, they plan to have billboards on Interstate 10 in an attempt to draw more citizens of Banning and Beaumont into the debate on the appropriateness of the warehouse at its planned location. As reported last month in the Breeze magazine, donations for legal fees and costs can be sent by check, made out to Pass Action Group, and mailed to Randy Robbins, 5972 Indian Canyon Drive, Banning, CA 92220 or to Jeannie Lloyd at 4832 Crenshaw Circle, Banning, CA 92220. There is an on-line option now at www.givebutter.com/ passactiongroupbanning. There is a direct link to this fundraiser available through the group's Facebook page, Pass Area Action Group. Residents can contact Randy Robbins at randyLLump@yahoo.com with any questions on the Pass Action Group's effect on the campaign to halt the warehouse and retail project from its planned location. Anyone who lives in Four Seasons knows that the traffic on Highland Springs in the area of 1st and 2nd Streets up to the 10 freeway is heavy at times. It is hard to believe that the addition of 100 to 200 trucks, possibly on a daily basis, would not impact the traffic congestion, health and safety of the residents in the area, and create longer response time for emergency vehicles to get to the numerous homes at Sun Lakes, Four Seasons, and other housing tracts in the area. Thank you to all our residents who have been active in the support of the Pass Action Group and their efforts. UPDATE: WAREHOUSE PROJECT APPEAL IN PROCESS
