8 | LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2022 | February is here and due to the COVID variant, people are required to wear masks at all indoor activities, even if vaccinated. This has given us pause to think about how we do things again. The New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee will be following the procedure put in place during the first outbreak of COVID-19. The procedure is as follows: • The new residents who requested a Welcome Book visit with an ambassador will receive an email explaining that their Welcome Book will be delivered to their front door on a designated date. It will be placed by door and their doorbell will be rung to let them know it is there. • They will receive a phone call within a few days to schedule a visit adhering to social distancing guidelines and everyone will wear a mask. They may also schedule a phone call to go over the contents of the book and ask questions. • If a resident wants a personal visit, it is recommended that it be outside. There are tables and chairs outside at the Clubhouse that can be used for the visit. We want to make our residents comfortable in receiving the Welcome Book and visiting with an ambassador. It is not known at this time how long the current conditions will last. We followed this process from July 2020 through May 2021 with success. We will be hosting our semi-annual Social Gathering event and "Living in a HOA" presentation the last Wednesday in April. This event is open to all Solera residents. Individual invitations are mailed to the new residents from October through March, however everyone is welcome to attend. Please mark your calendar. The event begins at 6 and ends at 7:30 pm. Please note: Due to current COVID conditions, a decision will be made by our March meeting if this event needs to be postponed. Notification by email will be sent to each new resident. If there is no email address, a phone call will be made. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this information, please email Marcia Casem at mac-extra@msn.com or leave a message at (951) 769-6144 and your call will be returned. Thank you to our ambassadors for everything they do in making our new residents feel welcomed to our community. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee Security/Surveillance Cameras Planning on installing monitoring cameras? You need a permit. 5.32 of the Design Guidelines states: Security/ Surveillance monitoring cameras, that view and/or record images of the vicinity around the residence, shall be installed in a manner that does not infringe on another's rights to privacy. Cameras shall be "fixed view" without panning capabilities and shall be installed so as to only observe/record the immediate vicinity of the homeowner's residence and lot. Cameras may not be directed toward, or record the activity of, another neighboring residence of Association property. Entry door 'doorbell type' security cameras, such as Ring, Nest, Vivint, etc., that record the vicinity of the entryway, do not require a permit. They shall, however, be aesthetically pleasing and blend with the surface area where mounted at the doorway. Detailed guidelines are found in 5.32 of the Design Guidelines. Read them before buying/installing cameras. Design Review Committee
