CLUB NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | FEBRUARY 2022 | 41 Jack & Jill Ladies Golf The December tournament completed our 2021 series of 12 events, and the weather became a deciding factor before it commenced. Fifty-two golfers had registered for the event, and as the tournament got closer, we faced a last-minute decision to play or not to play. With skies dark and temperatures in the 50s, we decided to play. Two foursomes and two singles dropped from the roster as we teed off for the 8 am event. Playing traditionally the most popular of our four-event series, "Pick Your Own Foursome," we finished on the links with but a mist of dropping moisture. Final play involved nine foursomes and two threesomes in the two "A" and "B" flights. We gave a "hats off " for the brave who challenged the weatherman (a 64% chance of rain) and once again won. When the tournament was over, the following posted winning positions for the contest: Winning Teams "A" Flight 1: 48.643: Mark Tomayo, Vicky Cornille, Bill and Susan Connelly 2: 48.674: Randy Meyer, Annette Lalicker, John Comeau and Maureen Herzberg 3: 49.062: Bruce and Lori Dalfonso, John and Anita Hoetker "B" Flight 1: 43.016: Rick and Terry Knode, Dan and Sheryl Beamish 2: 45.425: Malcolm Grant, Sherry Roberts and Sam Curry 3: 45.426: Steve and Rita Liguzinski and Dennis Murphy Closest to the Pin # 5 Anita Hoetker – 9'2" / Randy Meyer – 16'7" #15 Vicky Cornille – 4'11" / Dan Beamish – 8'0" #15 Consolation prize: Joe Jaramillo – 8'1" #16 Team #1A – Randy Meyer, Annette Lalicker, John Comeau and Maureen Herzberg – 3'7" DARWIN AWARD: Went unclaimed again! MR. and MS. JACK AND JILL AWARD: The 2021 winners were Ed King and Barbara Keen. Congratulations! Our next contest is set for Thursday, Feb. 10, and will be an "A and B Format." As with all Jack and Jill events you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Club to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. See ya' on the links! By Dennis Murphy, 461-0457 By Judy Lebovitz, 461-0065 Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I had to have unexpected surgery during the holidays, so I was not able to write anything last month. Thankfully, I am recovering well and am happy to tell you what's going on in the Ladies Golf Club. We started off 2022 with the Ace of the Year tournament and our luncheon, where we gave out our year-end awards. Vicky Cornille and Debbie Johnson received Ace of the Year awards for High and Low Handicappers, and Marge Anderson received Most Improved for the year. Congratulations to them! We then had our installation of officers for 2022. Marge Anderson will be our new president, and we have a great group of ladies representing our board and committees. We have a new membership chair, Peggy Clendenen so if you are interested in joining our club or finding out information about us, please contact Peggy at 951-696-2169 or me at the above number. We have a great group of ladies in both the 18-hole and 9-hole groups, and have lots of interesting play days each Tuesday. We also have fun and informative lunch meetings every month. Tee times for February and March are 8:30 am. I hope to see you on the links!
