genealogical society We meet at 1 pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. On June 26, Gena Philibert-Ortega's presentation was titled "Remember the Ladies: Finding Female Ancestors." Women are usually mentioned in the early census as "keeping house" but they just leave a different paper trail. They can be found in membership lists from auxiliaries, organizations, church, newspapers to name a few. She showed us an old photo of a jury panel, no men were shown but there were approximately eight women. So they didn't stay home all the time. She gave us two places to go for help "Gena's Blogs" and "Gena's Genealogy." She took us on the search of a relative and put together her life story. She made it look easy to follow the trail. With experience you can do the same. Our knowledgeable guest speakers give you tips and tricks for research, as well as, providing numerous web sites where you can do your searching. A family tree is a gift to family members that just keeps on giving! At the meetings, you learn to research your family tree on the Internet, in libraries, at the National Archives, and at family history centers. Annual membership is only $15 per family. Speaker name not available for Lifestyles, August issue's deadline. Meditation, an integral part of proceeding on a path of Self (God) – Realization, promises to do just that. When the mind with its myriad thoughts becomes quiet and still, we can feel what lies beyond. The Pure, Non-Dual (only ONE) Consciousness lies beyond and is our True Eternal Being. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 15 minute meditation followed by a discourse, the subject of which is given below. A short video clip is also presented by a teacher adhering to the same teaching of Non-Duality. Questions are warmly encouraged and satsang concludes with a 5 minute silent meditation.
