| LIFE IN SOLERA | MARCH 2022 | 25 Greetings from the Solera Quilters! We meet in the Arts & Crafts Room at 12 noon and all are welcome. COVID kept many of our ladies away from the "Road To California" quilt exhibit in Ontario. Hopefully next year will be better. We were able to finally meet in January (with masks) and had a lot of interesting news from our quilters. Christy gave us some great tips and displayed an interesting gadget that helps determine the tension on our sewing machine bobbins. Did you know that threading a needle is made easier by using hand sanitizer on your fingers? Thanks Christy for these great tips. Sue won fabric at a quilt guild auction and displayed a beautiful churn-dash pattern quilt she constructed from these fabrics. A new quilter, Linda, displayed a "jelly roll" quilt. Kudos to Linda. Bonnie submitted a tip to the Fons and Porter Quilt TV show and it was aired! She won a subscription to their magazine for a year. Great news for Bonnie. Caryl reported on a comfort quilt she was making for a person with a serious illness. Member Pat purchased a new long-arm quilting machine and is having a challenge learning how to operate it. We all know she will conquer and produce beautiful quilts. We have a new member, Patty. Welcome to her! We received more instructions for our Mystery Quilt Challenge. Soon it will be time to assemble and display. We have a lively group who share and support each other. If you are new to the neighborhood and love quilting, join in and share the joy. Mary displayed an original design of the "Sanctuario" de Chimayo she created as a wall hanging. We have some really talented creative ladies! Plans are afoot for our "Blitz" and our yearly challenge.
