34 | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2022 | The Travel Club Board continues to plan more activities for 2022 and hopes you will join us on one or more of our trips or programs. We have found that even if one of the venues on a trip might not appeal to you, just being "out and about" enjoying our fabulous weather and the companionship of other residents after all the isolation from the pandemic is a wonderful way to re-energize yourself! Our next Club Program will be held on Mon., May 14 in Abravanel Hall. Our Social Hour begins at 6:30 pm with light refreshments and is followed by our program at 7 pm. Our guest speaker will be Melissa Sciacca, Executive Director, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust USA. For nearly half a century, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has been a force for conservation, operating six key programs to save Kenya's wildlife and secure its rapidly disappearing ecosystems. On Sun., May 1 we are going to see the Art Alive Exhibit at The San Diego Museum of Art, which showcases art interpreted into floral arrangements. After touring the Exhibit, we are going to the Fleet Science Center for lunch, a tour of the Center's exhibits and an IMAX movie. On the ride home we will make a quick stop at Harper's Garden to see the wonderful topiaries. Save the Date: Thurs., June 9 – We are planning a trip to Bowers Museum to enjoy "All That Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives" exhibit. The Exhibit features crowns, tiaras, watches, rings, bracelets, and more that were designed by some of the biggest names in fashion. Tues., Aug. 2 - we are going again to see the fabulous Pageant of the Masters, a 90-minute outdoor theatrical performance featuring famous works of art which are brought to life onstage. Dec. 13 – We are planning a trip to Riverside to view over FOUR million lights decorating the Mission Inn and its grounds, which has been a tradition since 1992. The Inn also features 200 animated figures, elaborately decorated Christmas trees, and horse-drawn carriage rides.
