28 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2022 | "Walk-Fit" Exercise Club Try our "Walk Fit" class for added activity. A full hour of aerobic walking burns about 350 calories, as well as being heart healthy while building strength and stability. (Three times a week is 1,050 calories.) The class consists of eight different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" dvds. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the dvds incorporate resistance bands (always optional). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome, both men and women! We meet Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 7:45 to 8:45 am in The Lodge Ballroom. Class is free! For more information, contact Karen Tuvim at (316) 260-0847. Cardio & Strength Join us for the Cardio & Strength Class taught by Certified Instructor Shannon Ramsey. This class is the perfect way to work on strength, balance, and endurance! We use exercise bands weights up to three pounds (which increases our strength and balance), while practicing step routines to choreographed music; this helps build our cardio endurance. Best part… it's completely modifiable to a chair routine so you can work at your own ability level. Exercise With A Certified Instructor All our exercise classes, offered by Shannon Ramsey, are now "Silver & Fit" and "Optum" certified. That means that if you have one of these programs as a benefit of your supplemental Medicare insurance, you can take these classes for FREE! If you do not have this benefit, you can still take the classes for $3/class or purchase a punch card for $30/10 classes (which can be used on all classes offered). All classes are offered with lower impact and chair options. Come try these classes. Shannon's certifications include AFAA, AEA, SPIN, RIPPED, ZUMBA, Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit, Optum, and CPR/First Aid. Healthy Living Ruby Weaver and Ann Smit have been members of the Healthy Living group for some time now. They like the new focus of socialization, health-related topics, and having breakfast with group members. At the present time, our meetings are being held in the Bistro. This location lends itself to an atmosphere where team members can share their wellness walk with others. Dave Tuvim, Healthy Living Host, provides articles on health-related subjects. We meet every Wednesday at 9 am. Our location, for now, is in the Bistro. If you have any questions about our program, please call Dave And Karen Tuvim at (626) 710-7163. Let's play Bocce. Even though signups were March 6, you still have time to come join the Bocce Club. Teams have a choice to have only four players on their team or they can choose to have what we call "spare tire" players. If a player is sick, you can rotate that player to take the place of that player, or each week you rotate the players. It does have an advantage when we play the Championship Game. If only three players show up for that day, you must play with three players and three balls only. But, teams with a spare tire can now have a replacement for that player. All games will be played on Sunday later in the afternoon to allow folks who attend services to also come play Bocce and for working folks, you also have an opportunity to join the Bocce Club. Bocce charges $22 for each player to help pay for Awards, our Banquet, and the Bocce BBQ. Folks who have played Bocce in the past years will tell you it is a lot of fun and you get to enjoy playing on the Bocce Courts located behind the exercise building and meet new friends. Zumba Gold is a great cardio workout designed for our age group and is easy to do. Our Certified Fitness Instructor Shannon Ramsey changes up the routines and music weekly. No prior experience is necessary… it's that easy!
