This is the friendliest bridge group you will see. We offer free bridge lessons and analysis of interesting hands from prior games before the games. If you need a partner, please contact Phyllis Skall by email pskall13@yahoo.com or text (858) 405-2684. The March winners are 3/1/22 Andy Boyer - Janice Boyer (58% N/s) Sy Singer - Arline Kennedy (69% E/W) 3/8/22 Sy Singer - Arline Kennedy (61%) Mary Sullivan - Phyllis Skall (53%) 3/15/22 Andy Boyer Arline Kennedy (64%) Susie Anson – Kannan Dan (62%) 3/22/22 Milt Kahn - Mike Stern (57% N/S) Mary Sullivan - Phyllis Skall (56%) 3/29/22 Sy Singer - Arline Kennedy (58% N/S) Milt Kahn - Mike Stern (71% E/W) We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior scoring of Duplicate Bridge, but also has the friendlier and non-aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards as you would, rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners. If you are interested, please call John Gates at (760) 295-5885, the president of this bridge club, to see if this type of game might meet your expectations. We are relatively small and have anywhere from five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth, and fifth Fridays of the month in the Hall. If you are planning on playing, you'll be responsible for finding a partner, and to let me know no later than early Thursday afternoon prior to the Friday game date. It is also assumed that you know the basics of Standard American Bridge, this is not a bridge training course but a tournament. You do not have to join this club to play your first game; however, if you decide to join, the annual dues are $6. It is already the coming of summer…walks and hikes ahead for us, but, more so, we are looking at a really good list of hikes yet to come in 2022. April found us at Lake Miramar, Guajome Park in Vista, and for 30 of our members, a four-day trip to walk and hike in Pinnacles National Park near the Monterrey Peninsula. In the next issue of OHCC Living, notes from my journal will highlight this most enjoyable trip to the lower coast of Northern California, below San Francisco. In May you would have located us in Eagle Rock/Warner Springs/ Julian. So much to explore in Julian, an historic town. Side gatherings included a number of members enjoying the Julian Tasting Room during "down time." Mid-month we were scheduled to walk and hike the Blue-Sky Trail, leading us to Poway Lake. Then, on May 26 we ventured to the Cabrillo National Monument, walking the Bayside Trail, Point Loma Trail, and enjoyed the tide pools. Early June, join us at Los Penasquitos Canyon, June 4. Join a good group of people who love hiking in the fresh air, who enjoy the wide variety of terrains we explore, who enjoy each other's company. After each hike, a luncheon place is suggested; several members break bread together, at whatever nearby restaurant that may be. Every hike is rated Easy, Moderate, Difficult, or Strenuous, labeled in an email from our Club President, Rich Halkyard in plenty of time prior to the hike so you can plan accordingly. For more information you can always call Rich at (203) 889-8506; or e-mail him at redcisc@ gmail.com. Join this Club… you will never regret it. Walkers and Hikers Hikers at Lake Hodges
