Pet Lovers President, Ellen Kippel, is pleased to announce that after
a two-year COVID hiatus, we will have our Annual PLC Brunch for
members in Abravanel Hall the morning of Sat., July 30.
Moving outdoors and open to all, the San Diego Humane Society
will provide $15 microchipping for dogs and cats. In order to
justify the Saturday staff commitment, they NEED 15 PETS signed
up by July 10. Contact Ellen Kippel at (714) 893 7621 or email
ohccpetloversclub@cox.net.
Rabies vaccinations will be available for a low cost by Ranch House
Veterinary Services.
FREE Licensing: The City of Oceanside requires that all dogs be
current on rabies vaccinations and licensed through the Humane
Society. The OHCC follows those guidelines to require the same
for all resident dogs. There is normally a fee for licensing within a
short window after current vaccination, and a hefty fine for not being
licensed, or for filing late. Any dog turned in to the SDHS requires
owners to pay the fine before releasing the dog.
Ellen has achieved something extraordinary: She has persuaded
the SDH to WAIVE ALL LICENSING FEES and FINES for any
currently vaccinated dog. So, if your dog had a three-year rabies
vaccine two years ago and you didn't get it licensed, you can get the
license for FREE this one time. One-year license fee and fines are
waived. If a resident wants a two or three-year license they need to
pay for the extra years and you need to bring proof of vaccination
with you. If your dog needs a vaccination, do it that day and then
walk over to get the license at no cost.
Real LIVE DOGS, ready for adoption, will be onsite for you to meet
that day.
