40 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2022 | Bocce Club The March bocce training was the biggest in club history with more than 30 players attending. Mike Chunka led the training with assistance from Mike Simons and Mark Feinman. After an intro to bocce classroom session, everyone took to the courts to apply what they learned. Everyone had a great time especially the newcomers who made bocces: Susie Anson, Teresa Crites, Don Williams and Jackie Loftus. Ticket sales for Casino Night, Fri., May 20 in Abravanel Hall will close May 4. This annual event for the bocce club returns after a two-year hiatus and promises an evening of fun, a chance to gamble (Blackjack, Craps or the Money Wheel) and a chance to win the big raffle prize of a trip to Las Vegas. May welcomes the start of summer fun with the club's first Sunday Barbeque happening May 29. The BBQ starts at 4 pm with bocce followed by grilling your favorite food at courtside. This event is for members only so if you haven't joined yet, now is the time to do it. At least three more BBQs are scheduled throughout the summer. A total of 164 bocces were scored in March, up by 23 over February. First place for the ladies is Fran Goldstein. Second place is shared by Mary Yotter and Pat Stansell with Joan Comito taking third. John Abdelaziz is first for the men with Al Lipitz second and Bob Goldsten and Michael Simons in a tie for third place.
