| OHCC LIVING | MAY 2022 | 41 Papercrafting Club Greetings from the Papercrafting Club to our readers and happy May to all of you! Well, we've been back having classes at the Clubhouse for just over a month now and people are cautious but glad to be back! It's not always easy to craft and make cards by zoom meeting, although our Zoom Group is proving that, for some, it's the easiest and safest of all! They're loving it! Groups 1 and 3 are back in the Art Room on Fridays and Group 4 and 5 meet there on Wednesdays. Group 5, representing our newest members is going full steam ahead and are in their eighth week of learning card making techniques. Our Group 5 members work under the expert tutelage of Rhonda Anchales, and Tanya Beyer. We've not introduced them before so here are, in alphabetical order, the newest members of the Papercrafting Club: Vicki Dibble, Sharon Doyle, Barbara Egelhoff, Jim Gularte, Maggie Khanbabayar, Marsha Locke, Mary Ann Matteson, Sue Silva, Phyllis Skall and Joanne Viner. As always, we extend our sincerest Happy Birthday wishes to our members celebrating May birthdays! Cathy Andrusky, Sandy Jones, Magda Kovacs, and Jan Malone are all part of the Emerald birthstone club, and we hope you all have a glorious birthday month. Totes classes are back on the menu with a major focus on digital crafting using Cricut machines. Lorraine Kleeman and Karin Barnes are offering twice monthly classes to members who are ready to move up and learn the newest skillset for papercrafting. Their classes are always full! I want to take this opportunity to thank the Rec department staff who are the (sometimes) unsung heroes of our Clubhouse. The people who keep the ebb and flow of the Clubhouse usage moving, seemingly without effort. We know the job of coordinating so many who want to use the Clubhouse each day is far from easy. We are so grateful to the event planning staff, Lisa Wise and the newest Rec Staff team Member Estee Aragon who do a great job getting our room set up for 4 different groups each week. Many, many thanks. Please enjoy the accompanying pictures from those displayed by Sunny of Group 4 at the Do Dues Day and From Group 3's recent class challenge of making cards using bright paper. There are some very talented people in our midst. In closing, let me wish you all the best as we enter the beautiful spring month of May; the month most especially known for celebrating mothers, and for keeping alive the memory of our brave soldiers who have died and their heroism and sacrifices at the forefront of our consciousness. To all the moms and to all those among us remembering beloved veterans who are gone this Memorial Day, God bless you! Now I wouldn't be a good representative of the Papercrafting Club if I didn't remind everyone to mark your calendar to send a card to a friend with a May birthday and to your mothers, grandmothers, wives, daughters granddaughters on Mother's Day. Mother's Day is always the second Sunday in May and this year it's celebrated on May 8.
