4 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2022 | • Received the minutes of the Construction Team Meetings for posting on the OHCC website • Deferred to staff on the matter of storage and facilities for contracted village landscapers • Approved a contract with OCLM to hard prune an escallonia hedge above Dassia Way for an amount not to exceed $5,212 • Approved an ARC recommendation to permit an addition to a shared wall • Upheld the decision of the RV Lot Committee denying an application for RV Lot parking • Accepted various committee resignations, dissolve ad hoc committees whose missions were complete and appointed Harold Stephens to the Landscape Committee • Called for volunteers to serve on the Lanai Ad Hoc Committee • Received a communication protocol from the Technical Oversight Committee • Deferred a decision on participating in the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce • Approved the purchase of additional lighting equipment for Abravanel Hall in an amount not to exceed $4,500 • Noticed a special meeting of the Board for March 28 to approve a new insurance policy for the year beginning April 1 • Approved a resolution on domestic sourcing of supplies • Announced the intention to discontinue the operation of the hard-wired in-home alarm system as of March 31, 2023 • Referred a request for driveway parking of electric vehicles while charging to the Citation Review Committee and suspended fines for parking such vehicles pending action by the Committee. The Board met in executive session on March 28th to discuss contract matters and approved a nine-month contract with O'Connell Landscape Maintenance for $103,097 per month through March 31, 2023. The shorter period was a recognition of the upcoming learning period with the maintenance of the refurbished golf course and the dramatic changes in the labor market. The Board held an additional special meeting on March 28 and took the following actions: • Approved fund transfers exceeding $10,000 • Approved a "like for like" repair and replacement exemption from ARC authority, which will now proceed to a mandatory comment period of at least 28 days • Approved a new package of insurance policies from Alera Group for April 2022 through March 2023 • Approved pruning of a jacaranda tree and modification of the irrigation system within the Butterfly Sanctuary area, and deferred installation of a protective fence pending specification of building materials and review of the fencing material by the Community Image and Marketing Committee.
