| LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2022 | 19 Our April event, Wine Bingo, was a fun-filled evening for our members. Shouts of "BINGO" echoed throughout the evening with lucky members winning bottles of wine. The grand prize for the event was a special basket filled with wine and wine accessories. Primo Tacos provided excellent food for the evening. Our next event on May 13 is an "Italian Evening" that is certain to hear shouts of "Mama Mia!" Caterer Tony Director will be providing food for this event with Lasagna as the main fare. Marty Anderson will provide music. The Steering Committee has been busy planning events through the end of 2022. Our June 18 event will be a Bocce tournament. You don't have to be a participant to enjoy this event. Just come, relax, enjoy delicious food and cheer for your favorite team. On Sunday, July 17 a Champagne Brunch is planned. This was a very popular and well-attended event in 2019 so mark the date on your calendar. As I mentioned in April's Life in Solera, it is rewarding to have one of the largest clubs in Solera. We currently have 142 members with many joining for the first time since we restarted events in October 2021. As an existing, new, or potential member, you might ask, "what benefits do I receive for the fee that is charged to be a member of the Solera Sippers?" There are two answers: (1) the cost for events that have catered food and music provided by DJ's usually exceeds what we charge members for the event. To keep the cost affordable and yet provide members a fun, quality event, the club subsidizes the additional cost and, (2) during the year we do events, such as Happy Hours that are not catered or have DJs. These causal social events are intended for members to get together, drink their favorite beverage and have fun. A minimal cost is charged for these events to determine attendance while the majority of the costs, which includes food, are paid by the club. Information about Solera Sippers events, membership guidelines and the application are available at the Solera Sippers web page on the Solera Oak Valley Greens website. You can access the web page by going to the "Recreation" heading and then "Clubs and Groups.". For info about the Solera Sippers, please contact Gary Stoh at (951) 845-1981 or via email at garymstoh@aol.com. SOLERA SIPPERS BON APPETIT CLUB Greetings from your Bon Appetit Board. For our May 6 meeting we will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Lunch will be catered by Tacos & Beer. At our April meeting, Ross Carter, instructor and mentor of the Culinary Arts program at Beaumont High School spoke with our members. He also introduced his assistant, Julissa Salgado, who graduated from BHS in 2015. He is now training her to take over his position so he can retire in a year or two for the second time. Also, at our April meeting Bianca demonstrated beauty products made from everyday food products from the kitchen. Judy Ferguson volunteered to be our model. Our meeting in June we will have a demonstration by Kitchen Kitchen. They will demonstrate various kitchen items and our members will be able to purchase them. Anthony, their chef, will prepare a treat for our members. If you are interested in joining Bon Appetit, please call Bianca Ralston, Membership Secretary, at (909) 915-9729. Membership is $25 per year. For info about Bon Appetit, please call Louise Sesto at (951) 267- 3847 or via email at louisesesto@gmail.com. Thank you. See you May 6. ~ Louise Sesto, President; Pam Davidson, Vice President; Bianca Ralston, Secretary; Mary Puchalski, Treasurer
