Welcome to Solera & Congratulations!
By Sue Karalun
Solera's Board of Directors has educational opportunities through
CAI - Community Association Institute. Solera is affiliated with the
Coachella branch of CAI. There are both in-person, online and Zoom
classes/programs offered that board members can take advantage of
to increase their knowledge of matters relative to being a director on
a Homeowners Association BOD. In March, all five board members
attended an Educational Program & Mini Trade Show at Omni
Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage where the topic was "Are you
in the Right Solar System?" We learned about - CA Solar Laws - Solar
Rights Act - CA Civil Code 714 - Latest Solar Innovations for HOAs
- How to Finance and the Aesthetics of Solar. This was informative
and relevant as our Association is looking into various ways to lower
energy usage costs.
Next up is an Educational Program on "Irrigation Issues - The
Latest Tech for Drought Management". As we all know, California
is facing another drought season with our local water department
asking, for now, for voluntary cutbacks in water usage. Solera is
looking into ways to cut water usage and our high water bills so this
should be another informative program for board members.
