CLUB NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | MAY 2022 | 31 The Book Readers will meet on Wednesday, May 11, at 10:30 am in the Meeting Room. We will be discussing the international bestseller, The Little Paris Book Shop, by Nina George. If you enjoy reading, we invite you to join us, even if you have not read the book. This book is a love letter to books, meant for anyone who believes in the power of stories to shape people's lives. Monsieur Perdu is a literary apothecary and from his floating bookstore in a barge on the Seine, he prescribes novels for the hardships of life. Perdue mends broken hearts and souls using his intuitive feel for the exact book a reader needs. The only person he can't seem to heal is himself; he's still haunted by heartbreak after his great love disappeared. She left him with only a letter that he has never opened. When he is finally tempted to read it, he hauls anchor and departs on a mission to the South of France, hoping to make peace with his loss and discover the end of the story. Along the way, he dispenses his books and his wisdom, showing that the literary world can take the human soul on a journey to heal itself. The June book is The Bohemians by Jasmin Darznik. Book Readers By Jeanne Bender, 949-295-5412 By Virginia Conant After a two-year hiatus, on July 2 at 5 pm and with full decorations, the Kennel Club's 5th Annual Patriotic Pups and Carts Parade will wind through the streets of The Colony.
