Men's Golf April was scheduled to be a busy month for the CMGC, with our Club Championship plus another one of our series of 'away' tournaments. Our Club Championship tournament is an annual event, played over three days, stroke play with a low gross and a low net winner. At the time of this writing, the tournaments had not yet been played. We will need to see if last year's winners, Mike Basel and Billy Brown, can retain their championship titles. Our next 'away' game is being held at The Legends Golf Club in Temecula and is organized by our Tournament Director, Mike Basel, in conjunction with the Friday playing group, the Good Ole Boys. Results of this and our Championship game will be announced in the next Colony News. Also, remember to take advantage of the CMGC "low net tournaments" that allow you to post a score and update your handicap. One of our major events, The Colony Men's Golf Club semi- annual Pancake Breakfast, is fast coming up, on Saturday, June 4, so look out for those ticket sellers in the Clubhouse! If you are interested in becoming a member of the Colony Men's Golf Club, call Bill Connelly at 760-861-4831 for further information. By Sam Currie, 461-0801 By Dennis Murphy, 461-0457 By Judy Lebovitz, 461-0065 Our annual pizza lunch was held at our April meeting, with 41 women attending and enjoying several different kinds of pizza, delicious salad, wine, beer and soft drinks. First quarter Ringer money was passed out to the winners. A new member, Denise Sturm, was introduced, and we said goodbye to our 9-hole tournament chair, Terry Knode, who is moving to be closer to her family. As always, everyone had a good time at our lunch meeting. The 18-hole ladies played for the club championship on April 5, and the second day was on April 12. It was very good weather for golf. With the spring weather, we should have lots of fun golf days. We are not having our invitational in May, but we will still be playing golf and having a special luncheon. Some ladies are inviting guests to come and play that day. If you are interested in joining us or finding out more about our club, please feel free to contact me or our membership chair, Peggy Clendenen, 951-696-2169. We hope you will join us out on the links! 1st Place Winners, Random Draw, March 10 Dennis Murphy, Daphne Jacobo, Bea and Rich Brown
