| THE COLONY NEWS | MAY 2022 | 35 On Saturday, April 2, we crowned three new winners of the monthly pickleball tournament. Gregg Ross was the winner overall and of the men's division, winning every game for a total of 45 points. Jamie Calvert and Gigi Samaha tied for honors of first place in the women's division. Congratulations to each of you and to all of the players who participated in the tournament. Our next tournament will be on Saturday, May 7. Hope to see you there! If you are interested in joining the fastest growing sport in America, please contact me. I will be happy to teach you the basics of the game at no cost and introduce you to the great pickleball family at The Colony. Pickleball By Kathy Lewis, 412-0006 Gigi Samaha Jamie Calvert Gregg Ross Welcome to May, even though I'm writing this on April 2. We had our dinner on St. Patrick's Day, and everyone had a great time. Our leprechaun left 14 bottles of Irish Whiskey and a bottle of Irish Meade for some of our guests in the golden eggs he left at the end of the rainbow. We also celebrated Ralph Sanzari's 94th Birthday! Ralph was kind enough to furnish a bottle of champagne for each table. What a guy!! (Sorry, I misspelled Ann's last name the previous month. My bad, it is Sanzari.) It looks like we will have nine, maybe 10, teams for the Summer League which starts on June 2 and ends on July 29. Hot Schotzz, PinPoppers, and Strikes Happen are 1,2,3 in the standings, with Rolling Pins right behind in 4th place. Remember, our Awards Dinner is on Thursday, June 2. We will be having tacos, rice and beans and chips with salsa, and three kinds of meat: beef, pork and chicken. If we have 40 people, the cost will be $19 per person, if we have 50 people, it will be $16, and conversely, if we have less than 40 people, pricing will be slightly higher. This is the night we pass out all the money, so I hope attendance is high! We can't buy a bowling alley, but maybe we can buy a golf course. Let's hope it all works out in the coming months.
