Avel Walker
By Joanne Deacon
Wondering who that multi-talented young man is who sang the
patriotic song at the March General Meeting? Meet Avel Walker, our
Landscape Assistant Superintendent who handles an average of 75
resident landscape requests per month. And he's getting married in July!
"Hi, I'm Avel. In 2014, I moved from Minnesota to California and began
working at The Colony about four months ago as Assistant Landscape
Superintendent. I've always enjoyed pruning, shaping and trimming
trees and bushes from an artistic point of view. I journey out into The
Colony in response to resident requests and inspect other landscape
issues as well as assisting in the office. I enjoy working with people.
Over the past six years, I've been serving at my church and helping with
their landscaping needs. In my off hours I spend time with my church
family, paint custom in-home murals, draw (see the Staff caricatures in
the office), sing, play the drums and piano. I'm a personal barber and
more. I enjoy working with technology like digital art media, love to eat,
hike, run and workout, and travel."
