June is busting out all over and we are blessed with the arrival of early produce from nearby Coachella Valley – get ready for those fruit bowls to start overflowing. No need to turn cherry red when the music gets you on your feet and your hips moving right along with Elvis on June 11. To sustain the energy you're going to need, get those food orders in early. Francisco will be offering a cheese plate of four different cheeses and crackers for two, $10.50 or for four people, $20.50; plates of 12 meatballs for $8.95, or 20 meatballs for $12.95; four medium croissants for two people, $19 or eight medium Croissants for four people for $38. Each includes potato salad for two or four people. Choice of fillings are ham, tuna, turkey or chicken salad. Pick up your pre-ordered food, take to your table and enjoy; the show start at 7 pm. Juneteenth, the celebration of freedom from slavery, is being celebrated on June 17 instead of the 19. The Four Seasons Bid Whist Club has put together a peachy-keen evening of music, dancing, and great food to celebrate. The So Cheesy food truck will be returning for this event and Francisco will be offering barbecued ribs for $11.50 or southern fried catfish for $15.95. Both include choice of two sides (corn, slaw, or beans). He also will make a seafood gumbo with cornbread. It must be ordered at least two days ahead, and is priced at market price. Remember to place your order in advance for everything. June 19 is Father's Day which, for some reason, makes me think of my dad and Rhubarb pie. Francisco will introduce two specials. For breakfast, Huevos Campesinos (chile verde) and for lunch, hamburger on sourdough bread. Another special? He's thinking about a dessert; it will be a surprise! It is said that "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Well that must be what these celebrants did! The Sunshine Club is honoring those youngsters "90" years and older on June 29 at 2 pm with some yummy cake that Francisco is baking for them. Our congratulations and a warm welcome to new residents Kenneth Barkhuff and his sister Joni Preston (pictured above). They won the Sunday Brunch for two certificate from Four Seasons Bistro. Fred Kydd was kind enough to do the honor of pulling that lucky ticket. Once again, we welcome new menu ideas; if your palate is hungry for something, tell someone on the Bistro committee or drop a quick note to me at pattgililland@gmail.com. Our thanks.
