Actors Studio Well, we finally did it! The Actors Studio first production is in the books. We hope all of you who attended our night of One Act Comedy Plays enjoyed yourselves and had at least a giggle or laugh during the show. We had so much fun doing it and are looking forward to future productions. I would like to give a big thanks to all our actors, directors, emcee, greeters at the door, stage/prop manager, technical support (lighting and sound), curtain handler, poster, ticket and program designer, ticket sellers, and a special thanks to the Drama students at Mt. San Jacinto Junior College and their teacher for the design and construction of our sets! We are a small but mighty group, and I couldn't be prouder of all of you! Our workshops are the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in the Annex from 3 to 5 pm. On June 8, we will be discussing what kind of show we would like to present next. We welcome any and all of you who might be interested in joining our group in any of its great variety of positions. If you have questions or would like to join our workshops, please do not hesitate to call me, Alan Scharf (702) 767-3020, Chuck Gordon (661) 714-3847, or Greg Hill (951) 526-9896. By Marsha Tobolski, 562-244-9223 Experts say that learning to play an instrument is very good for the brain, and strummers say that playing the ukulele makes them happy. That is a great combination; help your brain and be happy. Come visit us on any Friday at 1 pm in the Annex and see for yourself! We will teach you this easy instrument and you can sing and laugh with us. You can call me for more information. Strummers By Judy Moore, 949-468-7375 CLUB NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2022 | 29 We welcome all quilters or sewists to bring their own projects and join us for several hours of uninterrupted sewing time, inspiration, show and tell, problem solving, new techniques, camaraderie and giggles. We are in the Annex on the first Thursday of each month from 10 am to 4 pm. Bring your sewing machine and all your "stuff." Ironing stations and cutting tables are provided. We have a lot of donated fabric available to be used for charitable purposes, and you may use that if you don't have a project of your own. Right now, we are making lap quilts for the Murrieta Police Department to be given out when traumatized women and children are taken in. You are most welcome to join us at any time. If you have any questions, please give me a call. Quilters Workshop By Mary Dettmers, 951-698-3171 Our Artist for June is Sunny Hilliker. Sunny is showing her work in the Clubhouse for the first time. She and her husband moved into The Colony in August, 2020 after residing in San Diego for 20 years. She is an oil painter and first started painting in 2010 after retiring from her job as an accountant. Sunny grew up in rural Minnesota and received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Crown College in 1978. Later, she studied art at Colorado State University and San Diego Mesa College. She continues her art training through various workshops taught by Master Artists. Sunny has exhibited her art with the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League, along with the San Diego County Fair and the San Diego Art Institute. She is an associate artist member of the California Art Club and is active in the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, where she has had the honor of being juried. In fact, she has received numerous awards from all groups that she has participated in. Her hobby has turned into a business. She enjoys painting in the Southern California outdoors as well as studio sessions, and she loves painting florals, animals, landscapes, seascapes, figures, and portraits. We are pleased to welcome Sunny into our group of Colony Artists. We appreciate her willingness to share her wonderful talent with all of us. Thank you, Sunny.
