28 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2022 | Like the picture? You can make this in our free class this month! This one was made from scraps of Irish fabric, but yours can be anything you want it to be… Christmas, Valentine's Day, or just pretty colors! Thurs., June 16 at 9:30 am we will be making this "quilt as you go" table runner in our Sewing Room at the Clubhouse. You bring the scraps, and we'll show you how to make it! It is a simple project that goes very quickly. There will be a sign-up sheet and more information regarding supplies needed, etc. at our monthly meeting on Thurs., June 2 in the Lamia Room, adjacent to the sewing room. The meeting gets going at 9:30 am and only lasts an hour. Come and join us! As always, the Kneedlers and Hookers gather on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 pm, where you can pick up a new skill, share, or visit. Also, on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm and Fridays from 12 to 3 pm several quilters, crocheters and sewers get together for "Sew & Chats." Both of these gatherings are loosely structured and tend to keep us in touch… there's always something to laugh about! If you are interested in participating in our activities and are not sure who to reach out to for further information, please call Chris Sanderson (858) 442-1834, or MaryLu Belisle (952) 454-1931 for more information. Also, please visit our website, lovingly updated by Terri Eckhardt, http://ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing. Sewing, Etc. Woodchucks This month we are acknowledging our Woodchuck Vice President, Larry See. Larry's woodworking skills are perfect examples of taking craftsmanship to the next level. These photos of his work building ukuleles show off the detailed inlays, combined with rare hardwoods to create works of art. He is a true luthier! He honed his skills through the Woodworking Program at Palomar College, one of the best in the country. To learn more details about a ukulele build, go to his blog at https://forum.ukuleleunderground. com/index.php?threads/uke-building-class-palomar-college-san- diego-county.122738/ As our volunteer shop foreman and VP, Larry helps keep our "burrow" organized and the tools running. We all owe him a big "thank you!" We have dusted off the patterns for our toy builders and look forward to new member participation in our annual project of building dreams for the children of Camp Pendleton. Stay safe, Woodchucks!
