34 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2022 | Garden Club Special thanks once again to the residents who so generously shared their gardens for the annual Home Garden Tour on May 11. Each unique garden was enjoyed and appreciated by those who attended. The speaker for our upcoming meeting on June 8 will be Ron Matranga. Ron is a Board-Certified Master Arborist. As a Registered Consulting Arborist for Atlas Tree Services, Ron has evaluated the trees here in Ocean Hills Country Club for many years. His topic for the June 8 meeting is Tree Assessment Through the Eyes of an Arborist. It is a pleasure to have Ron Matranga at this month's meeting to speak on this topic. The Garden Club holds monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month in Abravanel Hall with informative talks by guest experts on various garden-related topics. The doors open at 9:30 am with coffee/refreshments and socializing, followed by the meeting at 10 am. Guests and members are reminded to pick up a ticket at the registration table to be entered in the drawing held at the end of the meeting. The monthly meetings are open to all residents. Genealogy Interest Group The Genealogy Interest Group is a growing group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage and their ancestry. Curiosity about those who came before and formed us is important. The group provides tools to do your research and help in getting started. For the experienced we can offer suggestions to break through the brick walls of past generations. Meeting with others looking in the same geographical areas is a great help. We have both Apple computers and PCs. There will be a presentation by Dorothy on Thurs., June 9 and a help session on Sat., June 25 at 10 am in the Computer Room. All sessions can be seen on the TAG calendar. We are happy to offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com free of charge in the computer room. This program would cost an individual about $100 a month. We also offer the Family Tree Maker on several of the computers in the lab. A family tree can be started and compiled with either or both of these programs with many hints to assist in your research. Coordinators are Dorothy Miller and Peggy Singh.
