FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2022 59 It finally happened! After postponing our Tennis Club annual dinner (usually held in January) three years in a row due to COVID, we finally did it. On a beautiful sunny afternoon in April, 50 club members and some of their spouses attended our 2022 annual dinner at The Courts. In order to continue to protect all attendees from the nasty COVID, we decided to hold the event in the lawn area with clean fresh air and warm sunshine. Temperature was at the comfortable low 70s – how perfect is that? To top that off, the wind was kind and cooperative all afternoon. We couldn't have picked a better day for this event. As in previous years, food was catered in. No one had to lift a finger to prepare any of the food, including the delicious desserts. Everyone simply showed up and enjoyed a very scrumptious meal while visiting with old and new friends. A good time was had by all (I think). To kick off the event, our new incoming President Larry Martin announced various activities and projects that will be taking place during the rest of 2022. Just to clarify any confusion: President Martin's official title is POFSBRC (President of the Four Seasons Beaumont Racket Club), as opposed to POTUS (President of the United States). Although President Martin may indeed already have his own Oval Office at the Martin House. Just kidding, Mr. President! To spice up the day, we also held a raffle drawing and trivia question session where plenty of prizes were given away. Among those prizes were a number of lottery scratcher tickets, some of which had possible winnings of $30,000. If you are one of the lucky winners, please come clean and not hoard it all to yourself. You know all your long-lost cousins will soon be knocking on your door. Ha! A big thank you to Lou Stokes, one of our new Executive Committee members. She did an absolutely marvelous job in putting this event together. Congrats, Lou, on a job well done! Hopefully, this will mark the beginning of many of our normal and fun activities we used to have each year before the pandemic hit. Let's keep our fingers crossed! If you want to give it a try, check the Breeze for schedule for play times. See you at the paddle courts. You don't need to purchase a paddle when coming to play the first time.
