54 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2022 | Couples Golf Last month on May Day, we celebrated of the season of spring. May Day is a public holiday that celebrates unity, togetherness, and rebirth. It's a day for everyone to come together and celebrate life as we know it… AND it was a celebration of the quarterly meeting for the Couples Club! After the morning of near perfect weather and an amazing golf tournament, we gathered to eat, drink, be merry, and conduct club business for the quarter. President Sherri Little created a fun trivia game where the winners table was the first to be allowed to enjoy the feast set before them. In the spirit of Cinco De Mayo, the lunch was a delicious selection of Mexican cuisine such as tacos, burritos, and taco salads. There were two couples who won the challenging couples Trivia game — Kari and Bill Steinwart and Jim and Mary Wilkie. First place winners of the May first step-aside scramble with a score of 44 were Kris Terrell, Pam D'Arca, Jim Close, and Joyce Close. Congratulations! Now that the Sandwedge is open, we can meet after Sunday morning golf for lunch and an awesome time of fun and laughter. Try your "couples trivia knowledge" with this quick couples/Duo Trivia quiz. In Loving Memory of Jack Sidwell. The Couples Club and the entire community of Sun Lakes will miss our friend and fellow long- time member Jack Sidwell. Jack and his wife Chloe were very involved in Charity Week and their contributions had an enormous impact on the lives of those beneftting from the donations they helped make possible, and made life better for all of us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chloe and her family in this difficult time. Lady Executive Golf Welcome to Lady Executive golfers (LEGS)! We are a 9-hole club on the Executive Course. We play weekly on Tuesday mornings with mixed play, fun scrambles, and a monthly tournament. In addition, we participate with other clubs for 18 hole tournaments and "away" games a few times during the year. From October through June, we meet at 8:30 am with tee times at 9 am. From July to October, we meet at 7:30 am with tee times at 8 am. The third Tuesday of each month is our monthly meeting and lunch at the South Clubhouse. Guests are welcome! We emphasize fun and socializing while striving to improve our game and become more familiar with the rules of golf. We invite you to join us! Executive Men's Golf YAY! Summer is finally here with warmer and longer days to enjoy golf on the beautiful Sun Lakes Executive Course. Now that we have moved into summer, we will invoke our summer tee times starting June 3. Our new schedule: check in at 8 am and tee off at 8:30 am every Friday through the end of September. Did you know, the Executive Men's Golf Club (EMGC) is a proud sponsor of Sun Lakes Charity Week? We will be sponsoring two holes, #7 and #8 on the Executive Course during the Mostro Scramble on Thurs., June 9. Come out and join the fun. The EMGC is open to all male Sun Lakes residents who are interested in golf, fun, and camaraderie. All levels of players (beginners to experienced) are welcome. We play every Friday morning on the Executive Course from the gold tees. We have a monthly tournament on the third Friday to challenge your skills against your fellow club members followed by lunch and prize giveaways in the North Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our tournament for June will be a Two-Man Scramble Computer Generated format. Flights and hole assignments will be based on SCGA handicap. We will meet and check in at the North Clubhouse Pro Shop at 8 am for an 8:30 am shotgun tee time. Come join us! Dues are $56 ($20 for club membership and $36 for your SCGA Membership).
