FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2022 5 Message From The Board The Four Seasons HOA runs a $5M business. The operation of maintaining and running this premier community belongs to and is the responsibility of the owners of the 1,853 homes within our gates. As you know (or should realize), this is a tremendous undertaking and responsibility for the community. Although the HOA elects a seven-person Board of Directors (BOD) to provide oversight, the BOD depends on several committees to provide valuable input and recommendations as a basis for BOD decisions. These would include the following areas: • Landscaping • Repair and remodeling of facilities • Community architectural standards • Activities, entertainment, events • Financial planning, investing, budgeting • Safety • Emergency planning • Long range planning It is paramount that we have owners who step up and participate in these critical activities. Committee participation offers you an opportunity to shape your investment in your community. Four Seasons needs to evolve for not only the existing homeowners but also the future homeowners to provide the living style and expectations we all desire. What do current Committee members say regarding their volunteering? "The easiest thing to do is to sit back and complain about things. Sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone, learn new things, and meet new neighbors." Gino Domico "It is a sense of duty instilled by my parents of devoting some of my time and energy to the community." Len Tavernetti, Conservancy "Volunteering not only makes me happy, it gives me a sense of purpose and self-fulfillment. It also allows me to meet and get to know other community members." Irene Welker, Communications "Each Four Seasons owner has a stake in this community. As a result, I want a say in how well my investment is managed for now and in the future." Larry Workman, Board of Directors "I volunteer because I love Four Seasons Beaumont and I want to help ensure that it continues to be the premier community that it is today." Colin Taylor, Community Planning "I choose to volunteer to feel more a part of the community and make our community a great place for all of us and to make friends." Lynn Jahnke, Canine Corral "I have a responsibility to help our community. I am always learning something new while helping others. Most importantly, you meet a lot of very nice, smart and fun people." David Sweet The dilemma is what happens when we do not have volunteers for the Committees. The BOD could hire individuals to perform these critical tasks, but this would mean higher operating costs which translates into increased HOA dues. A bigger issue of hired help becomes, "Will these individuals have the same interest in our community as we who live here?" I urge you to come out and attend Committee meetings. Find your area of interest. Specific knowledge is not necessary. Good common sense and judgment that you utilize in making decisions about your home and investments are the most important qualities of our volunteers. ~ Barry Ginnetti Your Community Needs You "It is paramount that we have owners who step up and participate in these critical activities. Committee participation offers you an opportunity to shape your investment in your community. Four Seasons needs to evolve for not only the existing homeowners but also the future homeowners to provide the living style and expectations we all desire." o
