MARK YOUR CALENDARS…our next RV Rally is Sun., Oct. 9 through Oct. 14 at Pismo Coast Village RV Resort in beautiful Pismo Beach. This is a very popular rally, one you might not want to miss. We have 25 sites reserved…. sign-up sheets will be sent out about the third week in August so be sure and check your emails. FYI for those of you that do not have an RV, there are trailer rentals available in the Pismo area and they will drop off and pick up your rental for you. There are also many hotels in the area if that interests you more. It's getting close to the time of the year for the RV Club to be electing new officers and the following positions will be available on our Club's Board of Directors: President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Please let us know by Aug. 1 if you are interested in running for one of these positions and/or need additional information. The RV Club would like to express a very sincere "Thank you" to Bruce and Diann Granlund for donating to the RV Club an EZ UP Canopy. Thank you for your very generous donation. In closing, I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to Darrel Pendleton, Richard Fettermen, Carmen Snook, Laurie Palmer, Don Tennis, Nancy Boyle, Vivian Myrdahl, Robin Nemire, and Jim Fitch, and may you receive expensive gifts! Have a safe and great July! The club's summer Bocce tournaments are now underway with 37, four-person teams vying for spots in the playoffs which will be held on Aug. 29 and 30. All residents are invited to watch the competition at the Bocce courts across from the North Clubhouse, typically between 5 and 8 pm, every Monday through Wednesday, except the week of the Fourth of July. Bocce is a fun, low-impact way to have some friendly competition with your neighbors, regardless of your skill level. If you'd like to practice before the fall tournaments begin, the Bocce courts are open and available for any Sun Lakes resident to use. Ball sets are stored in the cabinet next to the Bocce courts. For instructions on accessing the cabinet, contact Dutch or Jim at (951) 845-0392. The Bocce Board is planning a special get together, Bocce 101 Learning, aimed primarily at new residents and anyone wanting to learn or brush up on the fun and exciting game of Bocce Ball. There will be margaritas (donations please) and chips and salsa. Join us on Sat., Aug. 20 at 6 pm at the Bocce courts. Playing Bocce is fun and easy to play and has been one of the most popular sports here for the last 20 years. Hope to see you on the courts! Friends of Bocce Bocce Club Spring Tournament Winners: The 10-week spring tournaments wrapped up recently with winners announced in each of three leagues. Taking the "AA" league championship was the team of Ellen and Dix Henneke and Linda and Larry Abeyta. The "A" league championship was won by Jon and Carol Litty, Jack Marty, and Susan Clawson. Jerry Campbell, Ilona Nicoara, Susan Snopek and Russ Herrington comprised the winners of the "B" league championship team.
