Finally, we have had some warm,
dry mornings to play tennis. As a
result, Barbara Boutwell volunteered
to hold a tennis practice session
for some of the ladies who were
available.
Diane Gell, Beverly Crowe, Terrie
Garcia, and Cindy Bice participated
in drills for two hours using different
tennis strokes. This included volleys,
drop shots, overheads, forehands,
and backhands.
Hitting the ball in the air and
overheads from inside the baseline
were also practiced. Doubles
strategies like playing back, playing
net, and being at the center of
possible returns were also discussed.
All the ladies were very grateful
for the practice. Now the goal is to
incorporate the practice into future
games while trying to make them
automatic responses.
