Many people who are involved in family research will
probably agree that City Directories can contain some very
valuable information. Some historical ones will even list a
woman's late husband if she is a widow. So, our program this
month will be City Directories: More than Address Books by
Jean Hibben, one of our area's top genealogists.
Jean has a PhD in Folklore and a MA degree in Speech
Communication. A national speaker and former college
professor, Jean is a Board Certified genealogist; Director of
the Corona Family History Center; volunteer at NARA, Pacific
Region facility; President of the Corona Genealogical Society
and the Southern Calif. Chapter of the Assoc. of Professional
Genealogists (as well as a Board member for APG); and
secretary for the Genealogical Speakers Guild. She maintains
a regular blog at www.circlemending.blogspot.com and can be
reached through her website www.circlemending.org.
Our Colony Cousins meeting this month will take place in
the Annex on Tuesday, July 12, at 1 pm. Visitors are welcome
and are advised to sign in by 12:45 pm. For more information,
please call acting President, Lennie Martin at (503) 269-9987.
