CLUB NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2022 | 31 By Gloria Carroll It's almost here! The Players Theater Group will proudly present our production of The Colony's Got Talent II, Remember When? Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23, at 7 pm — you won't want to miss this show! Our amazing dancers, singers and storytellers, mixed with some nostalgic television skits and so much more will be performed by your very own friends and neighbors. Ticket sales information will be forthcoming in the next Colony News. Players eater Bill Hartley is our July Artist. Bill and his wife, Shirlee, moved into The Colony two years ago. This is Bill's first exhibition of his artwork in our Clubhouse Lobby. When Bill was in college, he took figure drawing and did some painting in oils. He did not paint again until nine years ago, when he met Irene Titus in an open-air market in Temecula. Irene taught acrylic classes, so he joined, and since that time has taken other workshops and classes. Bill is mostly a self-taught painter, and he paints in acrylics as a hobby only. It is a great, relaxing pastime for him. His subjects and main focus are snow scenes, some landscape, animals, birds, fish and human figures. Since joining the Murrieta art group, GEM of the Valley, he has become an award-winning artist and has won First Place and other awards. He has also volunteered to be their projectionist when they meet the first Monday of each month from September to June. (September is the only month when their meeting is held on the second week due to the Labor Day holiday.) In addition to GEM, he also is a member of the Murrieta Artists group that meets weekly in the Senior Center on Tuesday from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. I wish to thank Bill for sharing his wonderful artwork in our beautiful Clubhouse Lobby. Note: To all Colony fine artists, if you wish to participate in our monthly showing in the Clubhouse, please call Sylvia Maxwell at 818-667-1766. Thank you. Artist of the Month By Sylvia Maxwell, 818-667-1766 May's first Thursday meeting brought a few new faces and a lot of energy to our sewing group. We will try to have a demonstration each month. Our next meeting is Thursday, July 7, in the Annex, and Judy Pedersen will be showing us how to make a darling cosmetic bag (or whatever bag) from a cotton placemat. I will send a reminder and supply list to those who are interested. We start at 10 am and sew 'till we drop (we have the room until 4 pm). ALL sewers are welcome, but you must know your machine and be confident using it. A few of the ladies have already decided what food to bring to share for lunch. PLEASE RSVP so I can have enough tables and outlets available. I hope to see more new faces on July 7. Quilters Workshop By Mary Dettmers, 951-698-3171
