CLUB NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2022 | 33 Jack & Jill Ladies Golf The May tournament for the "Random Draw" competition has passed. Thirteen foursomes on the course provided a very competitive result to a wonderful weather day on the links. We had several NEW players joining the Jack and Jill family this month, as well as some who have been absent for quite some time. It is always good to see past players rejoining our event and banquet. Only four golfers, however, can claim the first-place position in the competition for this spirited event. When the tournament was over, the following posted winning position for the contest: Winning Teams 1st: 43.837, Randy Meyer, Annette Lalicker, Leo Pasco and Peggy Clendenen 2nd: 44.829, George Herrera, Laura Freres, Ted Noun and Lisa Schrader (first time J&J players) 3rd: 45.442, Mark Tamayo, Vicky Cornille, Dan and Sheryl Beamish 4th: 46.240, Del Mitchum, Charlotte Thielen, Sam Currie and Carol Winnard Closest to the Pin #5: Women, Charlotte Thielen – 16'3" / Men, Jerry Caldera – 5'7" #15: Women, Susan Connelly – 7'6" / Men, Bruce Hartwig – 7'8" #16: Team #14, Del Mitchum, Charlotte Thielen, Sam Currie and Carol Winnard – 2'1" WOW! DARWIN AWARDS: While disputed for a "very short" time… went UNCLAIMED. Out next contest will be Thursday, July 14, and will be the popular "Random Draw." As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. See ya' on the links! SPECIAL NOTE: I want to give a shout-out to some folks who worked very hard to keep this J&J event as seamless as possible in my absence. Susan Connelly for keeping all the pieces in place, Bill Connelly for keeping watch over Susan, not allowing her to go insane as Tee Time approached, Bob Miller for keeping the roster, etc., updated until tee time from his perch on a Mickey Mouse Cruise ship in the Pacific, Sue Jordan for printing all necessary cards and flyers for tournament play, and Bruce Dalfonso for volunteering his time to take on the banquet MC responsibility. Lastly, to the Jack and Jill family of players who always make the monthly events the success that they are here at THE COLONY. By Dennis Murphy, 461-0457 By Judy Lebovitz, 461-0065 Summer is here and the weather is warming up already. Our June lunch meeting was lots of fun. We celebrated a special birthday in addition to honoring Flag Day. Our tournament chair gave out prizes for our Aces of the Month for the last three months and also for most birdies and chip-ins. Congratulations to our new club champion, Sunny Park! Our tournament chair picks different games every week and they are always interesting and challenging. Our back nine group is also a fun group, counting low putts and closest to pin prizes awarded weekly. If you are interested in joining us or finding out more about our club, please contact our Membership Chair, Peggy Clendenon, at 951-696-2169. Let's all keep well and safe, and I hope to see you on the links!
