SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JULY 2022 17
By Clare Mendez, Resident
Imagine walking into the Ballroom and seeing all the tables set
with table cloths, china, silver and gold utensils, crystal goblets,
and flowers galore. The chairs covered in white covers (donated
by Edith and Carl Reed) with bows and flowers tied onto the backs
enhancing them even more. This was all revealed as soon as we
crossed the threshold entering into the Ladies High Tea in May.
It was a beautiful surprise to see such loveliness. All the ladies
were dressed beautifully, some donning hats, admiring each and
every table's decorations. Some people taking pictures, others
greeting each other gleefully. Compliments were passed and stories
shared before sitting down for the afternoon tea service.
Some of the SDV men, handsomely dressed in black pants,
white shirts and ties
(as seen in all high-end
restaurants and tea
houses), volunteered to be
servers to the ladies. They
filled the water glasses
with ice water and the
teapots with hot water,
they carried out a choice of
tea bags, delivered finger
sandwiches, cucumber
snacks, scones, fruit, and
more tea. They posed for
pictures, and hopefully, felt
much appreciated by the
ladies they served. At the
end, it was said, "Let's do
this again."
