We are still dark for the summer, but Lisa Malec is hard at work seeking interesting, enlightening and enjoyable programs and performers for our Monday performances. Please keep your eyes and ears open. If anyone has a suggestion as to whom they'd like to see perform, please contact Lisa at lmalec@envdev.com. Theatre Arts' members are busy working on our upcoming production of Dowagers on Oct. 21 and 22 and the entire community is invited to attend! Meanwhile, we are looking for folks who can help us with: costume coordination (minimum costumes required for this production), set construction (primarily just flats), artists to paint some scenery on the flats, and musicians to perform during the play. Actors' Workshop/Readers' Theatre news - Sally Benton's actors, past and present, will be presenting an evening of live theatre on stage in Abravanel Hall on Nov. 15. It will feature numbers from well- known plays and musicals. A Readers Theatre Performance of The Littlest Angel starring Karla Sando will be a delightful addition for young and old alike. Featured will be cuttings from Fiddler on the Roof and The Fantasticks, Broadway's longest running musical. Duo scenes will be performed including Greater Tuna, back by popular demand, starring Valerie Thompson and Harvey Bernstein. Poetry by Billy Collins and Shel Silverstein and the old favorite of Who's on First. There will be a special salute for our American Veterans from Stories That Must Be Told. Don't miss this fun evening as we look back at "Memories." For those still interested in auditioning for parts in this fun journey, we will have open tryouts the second Wednesday in September for parts that haven't been cast. Scripts will be available on Sept. 7 in the Majorca Room from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. A special tribute will be performed for our American Veterans, as our actors share the Veterans' stories from their war experiences. Classes are Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, in the Majorca Room. Join Theatre Arts so you can participate in all of our entertainment and activities. Our annual dues are only $10.
