12 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2022 | OHSPA The Ocean Hills Society of Performing Arts will have 90 minutes of rockabilly, country, gospel and pure 1950s rock and roll music performed live and backed by an authentic and energetic rockabilly backup band. One Night in Memphis: Presley, Perkins, Lewis & Cash tributes a night in rock and roll history that still lives on today. In 1956, Carl Perkins booked a recording session with Sun Records studio in Memphis, TN. As it turned out and quite by accident, Jerry Lee Lewis was also scheduled but Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash "dropped" in as well. As you can imagine, history was created very soon after that day! This creation that we will be watching and listening to was created by John Mueller in 2012 and features American recording musical icons in their prime and having the time of their life. They will be singing country, gospel and rock and roll songs! This is another top-flight show from OHSPA subsidized for only $30 a ticket. Tickets went on sale mid-July so please check with the front desk to see if there are any tickets left. If we are sold out, please put your name on the waiting list that they have in the folder. We thank our Star Donors, Patrons and all of you who buy tickets. We are so grateful that we can be in AB Hall watching this first-class entertainment at such a low cost AND we do not have to drive anywhere, worry about parking or stay up to the wee hours of the morning. It cannot get much better than this, but we all know that it does. The tickets are only $30 because they are subsidized by your donations to OHSPA as well as our wonderful Star Donors. If you have any questions, please call Donna Russell. See you at curtain time, 7:30 pm, on Aug. 13. Choral Society A big shout out to the Chorale for their beautiful concert, "Time After Time" presented in May. The Chorale is dedicated to presenting our community with a wide variety of choral music. Those in the Chorale believe deeply in the power of music: Instruments and voices combine to give our friends and families an opportunity to remember, think, and feel through beautiful music. Popular music from the last eight decades was represented from Java Jive written in 1939 all the way to Count on Me released in 2010. If you missed it, you could still see it on our website. Currently the Chorale is taking a well-deserved summer break. The first rehearsal for our next choral concert is on Sept. 1. If you are interested in joining us, you can sign up at that rehearsal. Mark your calendars as we look forward to presenting our Holiday Concert on Dec. 11. Thank you to those who have been supporting the Chorale by coming to our concerts, including our new "Guest Artists Concert Series." Sept. 10 brings us Bets Malone and Elan McMahan doing a fabulous cabaret show entitled "Broadway the Broad Way" and on Oct. 8, we'll hear Elan McMahan and Dorea Tate perform a concert of classics for piano and clarinet. For more information about any of our concerts, see our website.
