20 20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2022 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2022 | We are gearing up for our long-awaited Musical coming in October! Rehearsals begin in September – our Director, Noreen, welcomes hearing from residents interested in participating. Please refer to the email blast sent July 26 entitled Four Seasons Players CAST CALL (flyer is available at The Lodge). Feel free to email Noreen at L421211@aol.com with any questions – she'd love to hear from you! As our musical production draws near, we are excited to resume our "Behind-the-scenes with Kristine Chilcote" series which began in Nov. 2021. As our longtime 4SP Stage Manager, Kristine exemplifies our community-theater vision to offer exciting opportunities both ON and OFF stage! Let's resume now with ACT 5 of Kristine's story. Take it away, Kristine! My language Lesson: Little did I know that I was going to learn a new language as a Stage Manager. I assumed I knew more than I actually did. Did you know these terms? These first four items had me very turned around. I understood the complete opposite of how it really works. • Stage Right: Is actually the left side of the stage, from the actors' point of view – who knew? No wonder I had a hard time watching the actors go in the wrong direction, from the audience point of view. • Stage Left: The right side of the stage, from the actors' point of view • Downstage: The front of the stage closest to the audience • Upstage: The back of the stage And how about these? • Running Crew: Move furniture and props on and off the stage. Directed by the Stage Manager • Blocking: Directions given to actors as to where props, furniture and actors stand • Strike The Stage: Tear everything down after the performance. So, hopefully, you learned a few new things today! I look forward to sharing more on my Stage Manager role in the next Herald edition. Kristine Club meetings are held the third Friday of each month at 1 pm in the Ballroom. Your interest and inquiries are always welcome - please call Victoria Tarabochia at (951) 473-3235. Four Seasons Players Tickets go on sale in September for our Oct. 29 (evening) and Oct. 30 (matinee) performances.
