36 | THE COLONY NEWS | OCTOBER 2022 | Ping Pong is really taking off at The Colony. There is a lot of friendly competition for all skill levels. We recently celebrated loyal Ping Pong member Jodie Morrison's 90th birthday proving you're never too old to come out and play. We play every Wednesday and Friday from 4 to 6 pm. No equipment is needed, just a desire to have fun! Ping Pong By Lisa Schrader, 714-814-4543 September was a hot one on the pickleball courts! Our monthly tournament took place on Saturday, Sept. 3, in spite of the early 80-degree court temperatures. Harriet Henderson took first place in the Women's Division, and Scott Daniels and Scott Ross tied for first place in the Men's Division. Congratulations to all tournament participants for surviving that heat! On Sept. 18, several Colonites headed to Hemet to participate in the annual Oldlympics. The competition, in its 37th year, is open to ages 50+ and offers many sports in which to compete, with pickleball being one of the most popular. The events are spread out over several venues between Sept. 16 and Oct. 4, culminating in an awards dinner on Oct. 4. What a great way for us to compete against our peers in friendly games. In October, eight players from The Colony will be hosted by the Four Seasons for an inter-community competition. The players will compete in round-robin games all morning, and whatever the outcome, I know we will all have a great time! I will publish the results in the next Colony News.
