| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | 43 The Bereavement Support Group meets Tuesdays in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 3 to 4:30 pm. This group is designed to provide emotional support to any resident mourning the death of a spouse, relationship, child, parent, or beloved pet. We gather together as "hearts with ears" in absolute confidentiality in a safe shared place where strangers may become friends. Each of us is unique; our grief cannot be identical to any other, and the way to get to the other side of your grief is to "go through." For more info, call Carol Tasko at (951) 769-8932. Bereavement Group If you live alone and would enjoy the benefit of having a daily check on your well being by THE ALL IS WELL group, please register your interest by calling Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382. You will be teamed with a volunteer who will get in touch with you to arrange reassuring daily contact. All Is Well Group I always think of October as the beginning of the holiday season. I love to decorate inside the house with my Halloween and fall décor. The cooler weather is definitely a plus, but I will miss seeing the children trick or treating as I do each year. Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Oct. 20 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. This will give each of you more time to share. This group is for YOU the CAREGIVER. Our program is open to ALL CAREGIVERS. We have another program in the Arts & Crafts Room that will care for your loved one while you enjoy the meeting. Please, don't leave him or her home alone. The Arts & Crafts Room is next door to your meeting room. We offer live entertainment, (THANK YOU ED AVINA), games, exercise and fun. No one is forced to participate. We will do whatever needs to be done to entertain your loved one so you can relax and enjoy the meeting. If you think your loved one isn't ready for the Arts & Crafts Room group just yet, you might be surprised. Sometimes they feel more comfortable chatting with others like themselves. Give us a try, it's a free program and we care about your loved one. PLANNING AHEAD FOR LONG-TERM CARE EXPENSES Here is some information you might want to think about. Advanced planning allows you to determine your choices based on available options and your financial situation. The following checklists can help you anticipate the costs of long-term care and plan how to pay for them. GATHER FINANCIAL AND LEGAL DOCUMENTS. Collect and review all financial and legal documents, including: wills, medical and durable power of attorney, bank and brokerage accounts, deeds, mortgage papers or ownership statements, pension and other retirement benefit summaries, Social Security payment information, stock and bond certificates, monthly or outstanding bills and insurance policies. Studying these documents can help you get a handle on existing expenses, assets and income, and identify forms that are not in place. Many of these necessary documents can be prepared without the help of a professional. However, if your situation is complex or you're not comfortable doing the work yourself, it's best to reach out to financial and legal advisers for help. They may also be able to help you uncover other financial resources and tax deductions to help pay for care. MORE INFO NEXT MONTH. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory Loss, or would like to provide education, care and support and information and referrals for reading material that we can loan you, call Diane at (951) 769-0130, Doug at (360) 840-5559, or Anne at (951) 845-8700. Remember we are here to help. Caregiver Support Group
