60 60 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | POP Tennis, formerly known as Paddle Tennis, is a fun, fast sport that can be enjoyed by people at all fitness levels. Though played on a smaller court with a different paddle and 20 percent deflated tennis balls, POP Tennis is otherwise scored and regulated like traditional tennis. POP Tennis is played on the courts to the left of the Main Clubhouse on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 to 10 am (spring/summer hours). Additionally, there is a group that plays Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 3 pm and Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. People are free to come and go as their schedules permit. All are welcome and there are always friendly folks to teach beginners the game! Paddles and balls are provided too. For more information or to be on a decision-making committee, please feel free to contact Carl Miller at (951) 512-3131. **All regular POP players are asked to get their $10 membership fee to Jeanne McGuire. The dues are used to plan parties, tournaments and buy balls and paddles. Hope you'll POP by! As of this writing we are between leagues. We will be showing high scores starting next month. Fall bowling is almost here… Come along; let's have some fun; get your buns in gear; I'll even help you with some names… I've got some for everyone. How about "Quick Release," "On a Roll," " I'm a straight shooting son of a gun," "Split Personality," "Unbowlievable." I think there's even more. So come on out Sun Lakers, have some fun. You'll even like your score. Summer season ended in August. We started our winter season last month and bowl Wednesdays at 9:20 am at Canyon Lanes in Morongo. We have 18 teams but have room for six more teams (four people on a team). If anyone is interested in joining or needs more information, please give Barbara Semic, Secretary, a call at (951) 769-9809. Sun Lakes has two other leagues running on Mondays and Tuesdays if Wednesday doesn't work for you. It's fun, good exercise, competitiveness and camaraderie with fellow bowlers. What more could you ask for besides strikes and spares? Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes Sun Lakers III at Canyon Lanes
